The Golden Valley Cougars can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 68-41 blowout they got on the road against Buhach Colony. Given Golden Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Buhach Colony is ranked 926th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Golden Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Izaivian Goode led the charge by scoring 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Denson, who scored 12 points.
Despite the defeat, Buhach Colony had strong showings from Jaiden Sahota, who scored 14 points, and Carter Chapman, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Elijah Garza, who scored four points along with two steals.
Golden Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Buhach Colony, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.
Golden Valley will look to defend their home court on Monday against Atwater at 7:15 p.m. As for Buhach Colony, they will head out on the road to challenge El Capitan at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
