On Saturday, the Homestead Highlanders faced the Nicolet Knights in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Homestead took a 92-83 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nicolet. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Wednesday (74), Homestead still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Homestead lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tim Franks. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 35 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Justin Bliesner, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Davion Hannah continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Nicolet, scoring 34 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Hannah is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rashaad Davis, who scored 24 points along with five assists.
Homestead's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Nicolet, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Homestead will take on Cedarburg at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cedarburg knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Homestead likes a good challenge. As for Nicolet, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against West Bend West at 7:00 p.m. West Bend West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings (they are ranked 194th, while Nicolet is ranked sixth).
