If the Narrows Green Waves were riding high off their 54-23 takedown of the Eastern Montgomery Mustangs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Narrows took a hard 65-51 fall against Mercer Christian Academy on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Narrows can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 250th in Virginia, while Mercer Christian Academy is ranked 45th in West Virginia).
Mercer Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Karis Trump out in front who scored 16 points along with six steals. Trump also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Ella Botts was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds.
Narrows' defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Mercer Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Narrows will challenge Parry McCluer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mercer Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ballard Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th.
