La Joya Community kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They were outmatched by the Prescott Badgers on the road and fell 56-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Fighting Lobos of the 39-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.

Uriah Tenette was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Johann Gundermann did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards.
La Joya Community will be playing in front of their home fans against Empire at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Empire focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four last Thursday. As for Prescott, they are taking a road trip to challenge Thunderbird at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
