After losing to the Chesapeake Panthers the last time they met, the Ironton Fighting Tigers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Ironton had just enough and edged Chesapeake out 42-40.
Emerson White was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Ironton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Hankins, who scored 9 points.
The win got Ironton back to even at 1-1. As for Chesapeake, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Ironton will head out on the road to face off against Dawson-Bryant at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chesapeake, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against South Point at 7:30 p.m. South Point and Chesapeake are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
