Basketball Recap: Bear Grass Charter Skates Past Cape Hatteras with Ease

There's no place like home for Bear Grass Charter, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They blew past the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes 56-27 on Friday. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 29 points or more this season.

Callee Perry was a one-woman wrecking crew for Bear Grass Charter as she almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. What's more, Perry also racked up seven steals, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carly Bembridge, who posted 12 points and four steals.

Bear Grass Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cape Hatteras only posted seven assists.

Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Hickman, who earned nine points and eight rebounds. Hickman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Olivia Napier also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Bear Grass Charter has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Cape Hatteras, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Bear Grass Charter is taking a road trip to challenge Ocracoke at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cape Hatteras, they will be playing at home against Mattamuskeet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Hatteras is facing Mattamuskeet at the right time seeing as Mattamuskeet is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
