Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Stratford Spartans walked away with it. They took their matchup on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 62-22 victory over Westbury. The result was nothing new for Stratford, who have now won six contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
Leading Stratford to victory were Aaron Deleon and Hunter Biehl. Deleon threw for 282 yards and four touchdowns, while Biehl gained 200 total yards and four touchdowns. Braxton Wakefield did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 88 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Westbury still got an impressive performance from Trevon Buckhanan, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
The win was the seventh in a row for Stratford, bringing their record for this year to 8-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.7 points per game. As for Westbury, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Stratford is on the road again on Friday and play against George Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Westbury does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
