Baseball Recap: Meridian Starts Season with Win at Home

Meridian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Roscommon Bucks. The Mustangs not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 2, 2024.

Brady Bowen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Bowen was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Olmsted, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Drew Lafave was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meridian will host Coleman at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Roscommon, they will square off against Mancelona at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
