The Long Reach Lightning's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Loch Raven, falling 63-36. While losing is never fun, Long Reach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Loch Raven is ranked 89th).
Meona Boykin was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds for Loch Raven. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Destaney Harris, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Long Reach's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Loch Raven, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Long Reach will head out on the road to face off against Loch Raven at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Loch Raven focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. They will be home for the holidays to greet Long Reach at 6:00 p.m.
