Sidney is 8-2 against Butler since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sidney Yellowjackets will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Butler Aviators at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Sidney made easy work of Piqua and carried off a 60-37 win. Given Sidney's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Piqua is ranked 713th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Butler waltzed into their game Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They pulled ahead with a 42-41 photo finish over Xenia. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Butler has scored all year.
Sidney's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Butler, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Sidney was able to grind out a solid win over Butler in their previous meeting back in February, winning 54-47. Will Sidney repeat their success, or does Butler have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
