The Hilton Head Prep Dolphins will head out on the road to face off against the Hilton Head Island Seahawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Hilton Head Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Saturday.
After a string of three wins, Hilton Head Prep's good fortune finally ran out. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Hammond an easy 51-25 win. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hilton Head Prep has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Hilton Head Prep saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jason Britschge, who scored four points along with four blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Those four blocks set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Frey, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Hilton Head Prep struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Hilton Head Island's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 63-44 fall against Brunswick.
Hilton Head Prep's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2. As for Hilton Head Island, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-5.
Hilton Head Prep came up short against Hilton Head Island when the teams last played back in January of 2020, falling 55-47. Can Hilton Head Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
