Chaparral has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Independent Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Chaparral, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-33 loss to Conway Springs. While losing is never fun, Chaparral can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Conway Springs is ranked 113th).
Meanwhile, Independent pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Garden Plain by a score of 59-56. Independent has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jaylen Phillips-Grey, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sir Ryan Dennis, who scored nine points along with six steals and five assists.
Chaparral's defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Independent, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
Chaparral came up short against Independent in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 62-51. Will Chaparral have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
