3A Conference 10 recap September 24, 2013
Eastern Alamance's Josh Lynch rumbled for the longest rushing play in 3A Conference 10 this season in his game against Morehead last week. Lynch's team bested the Panthers as he sprinted for 86 yards on the play and finished with 86 in all.
Western Alamance extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Williams, 55-14. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Warriors.
Daniel Cardwell threw for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 14-28 with 1 interception.
Malik Wilson was the best wideout in the league this week as Eastern Alamance beat Morehead. Wilson racked up 2 receptions for 82 yards. Malcom Summers helped Eastern Alamance's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 56 yards.
Cardwell put up the best numbers in passing as Rockingham County topped McMichael. Cardwell's favorite target this week was Jamond Jordan, who caught 3 passes for 41 yards.
Cj Freeman was the best running back in 3A Conference 10 this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 106 yards as Northern Guilford topped Earl Bates' team. Austin Coltrane also contributed to the rushing game with 31 yards on the ground.
5-foot-9 quarterback Trevion McCollum of Western Alamance is the league leader in passing yards this season with 544. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Wilson. The Eastern Alamance star has 12 catches for 391 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Western Alamance takes on second place Northern Guilford. Jeff Snuffer's team beat the Bulldogs last week, while the Nighthawks defeated Reidsville.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Eagles' Wilson goes up against Williams' Raequan White.
Eastern Alamance moved up to 88 from 123 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Panthers 59-7.
