If The Pine Grove Cardinals were riding high off their 31-0 takedown of the Salisbury Township Falcons last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Pine Grove had to suffer through a rough 56-7 loss at the hands of Notre Dame-Green Pond. Having soared to a lofty 31 points in the game before, Pine Grove couldn't push the score so high this time.
Leading Notre Dame-Green Pond to victory were Josh Ludlow and Danny Darno. Ludlow gained 80 total yards and three touchdowns, while Darno threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes. Kellen Binstead made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Pine Grove's defeat was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.2 points per game. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Grove will take on Marian Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, they will head out on the road to face off against Wilson Area at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wilson Area is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
