Basketball Game Preview: Phoenix Day School for the Deaf Roadrunners vs. North Phoenix Preparatory Academy Gladiators

Phoenix Day School for the Deaf hasn't had much luck against North Phoenix Preparatory Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Both will face off at 7:00 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Phoenix Day School for the Deaf is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-46 heartbreaker at the hands of Sequoia Pathway Academy.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Joseph Trent, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Those ten boards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Franchesco Yesuf, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 20 points.

Even though they lost, Phoenix Day School for the Deaf smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, North Phoenix Preparatory Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 34-28 heartbreaker at the hands of Bagdad.

North Phoenix Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Phoenix Day School for the Deaf, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Phoenix Day School for the Deaf was dealt a bruising 44-16 loss at the hands of North Phoenix Preparatory Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Phoenix Day School for the Deaf was down 22-2.
