Middletown has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Berlin Redcoats at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Connecticut (Middletown is ranked 23rd, while Berlin is ranked 30th).
On Thursday, Middletown was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-46 to Bristol Eastern.
Shalyn Smith put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Tessa Porch was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Berlin had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They blew past Platt 49-21 on the road. 49 seems to be a good number for Berlin as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Middletown's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4. As for Berlin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Middletown skirted past Berlin 55-52 in their previous meeting back in January. Does Middletown have another victory up their sleeve, or will Berlin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
