Syracuse is 0-1 against Bingham since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on October 27th. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Syracuse is ranked 16th, while Bingham is ranked tenth).
After soaring to 45 points the game before, Syracuse were a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell 22-10 to Davis.
Syracuse's loss came about despite a quality game from D?angelo Mayes, who picked up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after only three points in their last game, Bingham made sure to put some points up on the board against Mountain Ridge on Friday. Bingham walked away with a 37-27 win over Mountain Ridge.
Bingham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Swensen led the charge by rushing for 176 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Swensen was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Triston Brimhall, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Mountain Ridge to a paltry 26 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Bingham's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Will Van Cott and his three sacks.
Bingham's victory bumped their season record to 5-5 while Syracuse's defeat dropped theirs to 7-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of October 27th' matchup: Syracuse has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 273.5 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Bingham, though, as they've been averaging only 95.8 per game. How will Bingham fare against such a dominant passing game?
Syracuse was taken down by Bingham 37-7 in their previous matchup back in November of 2017. Can Syracuse avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
