Shady Spring's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Skyler Gibson, who scored five points along with five steals, and Kendall Lilly who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Gibson grabbed two or more steals.
Even though they lost, Shady Spring smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Independence was led to victory by Lacey Goodson and Harmony Mills. Goodson dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Mills dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Mills has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 13 times she's played. Kamryn Wooten was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Shady Spring's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Independence, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.
Shady Spring will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
