Bradshaw Mountain and Flagstaff are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2020, but likely not for long. The Bears will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Eagles at 3:45 p.m. Bradshaw Mountain will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Bradshaw Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Mohave with a sharp 20-1 win on Saturday. Considering the Bears have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Caden Randall was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Strader, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Flagstaff's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Lee Williams by a score of 5-4.
Connor Smith was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Christian Welker was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Bradshaw Mountain's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Flagstaff, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 13-6.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bradshaw Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Flagstaff struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bradshaw Mountain might still be hurting after the 16-6 loss they got from Flagstaff when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Bears have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
