The Durango Trailblazers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 47-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cimarron-Memorial. Durango lost against Cimarron-Memorial in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 43-39 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Durango lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amia McKinney. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with 6 steals. McKinney scored a full 27.5% of Durango's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amarie Riley, who scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds.
Durango's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Cimarron-Memorial, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Durango will take on Mojave at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Mojave is ranked 68th, while Durango is ranked 73rd). As for Cimarron-Memorial, they will head out on the road to face off against Western at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
