Oglesby won the last time they faced Gholson and things went their way on Friday too. The Tigers blew past Gholson 11-3. Considering the Tigers have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jaxon Markum was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.
In other batting news, Oglesby got a massive performance out of Camden Webb, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Webb is becoming a predictor of the Tigers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Hunter Ewing also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
Oglesby has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gholson, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.
