Everything went their way against the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves on Friday as the Apex Cougars made off with an 81-55 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Apex to victory, but perhaps none more so than Stephen Beatty, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Zaelyn White, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 16 points and four steals.
Apex smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.
Several Fighting Red Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Braeden Wilbourn, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Jacobson, who posted 13 points.
Apex's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Cedar Ridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.
