After flying high against the Gillespie Miners last Friday, The Vandalia Vandals came back down to earth. Vandalia fell to Litchfield/Mt. Olive 38-34. It was the first time this season that Vandalia let down their fans at home.
Litchfield/Mt. Olive got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was AJ Sypherd out in front who rushed for 196 yards and a touchdown. Sypherd is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tate Dobrinich, who threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes.
Vandalia's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Litchfield/Mt. Olive, the victory was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Vandalia will head out on the road to face off against Lawrenceville at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Litchfield/Mt. Olive does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
