The Lower Richland Diamond Hornets waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 45-35 victory over Orangeburg-Wilkinson. That's another feather in the cap for Lower Richland, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Maurion Gordon, who scored eight points along with six rebounds, and Jeremiah Jacques who scored six points along with three steals.
Lower Richland is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-6.
Lower Richland will head out on the road to square off against Dreher at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dreher is on a three-game streak of home wins, Lower Richland a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Orangeburg-Wilkinson will take on Brookland-Cayce at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brookland-Cayce has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
