The Meyersdale Red Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They were dealt a 77-39 loss at the hands of North Star. Meyersdale has struggled against the Cougars recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Red Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Spencer Whitfield, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Ryan Sechler was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Leading North Star to victory were CJ Biery and Ethan Smith. Biery went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 3 assists, while Smith almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Biery has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brady Weimer, who scored 14 points.
Meyersdale's loss was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-19. As for North Star, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meyersdale will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Star, they will head out on the road to take on the Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
