Basketball Recap: Harbor Creek Takes a Loss

Harbor Creek lost against Girard back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Harbor Creek Huskies fell just short of the Girard Yellowjackets by a score of 58-56. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 70th).

When it comes to explaining why Harbor Creek lost, don't look at JT Delsandro. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 18 on his way to 22 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. Delsandro's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam LaFuria, who posted eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Harbor Creek has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Girard, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Harbor Creek will look to defend their home court on December 27th against Seneca at 7:30 p.m. Harbor Creek is facing Seneca at the right time seeing as Seneca is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Girard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Conneaut Area at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Girard's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
