There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.
Welcome
The power rankings welcomes a newcomer to the scene as Lexington Catholic earned the 23rd spot after its strong showing last week. It took its game against Southwestern by a confident 39 - 17 score. 39 is shaping up to be Lexington Catholic's lucky number as the team posted the same point total in its win over Garrard County the game before.
Can't Touch This
Boyle County got a 42 - 2 win over Mercer County last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Reed Lanter. Lanter tossed the ball for 304 yards and four TDs. That performance made Lanter one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Johnson Central and Belfry, 8th and 18th in the power rankings, respectively. Johnson Central took its game by a score of 34 - 21. As a result, it rose one spot in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
The Franklin-Simpson offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It picked up a decisive 'W' against Russellville, finishing up at 53 - 6. Franklin-Simpson made sure to walk the walk to justify being talked up as the big favorite. The combined 59-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
