Attica and North Vermillion are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Red Ramblers are taking a road trip to take on the Falcons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Attica is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Attica will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Faith Christian on Tuesday. The Red Ramblers were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Eagles. The win was some much needed relief for the Red Ramblers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Anni Reynolds was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Beck, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aleah Cruz, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Attica was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive games.
Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin hit North Vermillion with a seven-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Falcons lost 13-3 to the Blue Devils. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
North Vermillion saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Jumps, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
North Vermillion's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Attica, their record now sits at 4-5.
North Vermillion's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Attica has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for North Vermillion, though, as they've been averaging 12 hits. Given Attica's sizable advantage in that area, the Falcons will need to find a way to close that gap.
Attica took their victory against North Vermillion in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 26-14 score. Will the Red Ramblers repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
