Bishop O'Connell was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after losing to Our Lady of Good Counsel. The Knights came in at 7 in the state poll after placing at number 38 last week.
Bishop O'Connell moved up to 7 from 38 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Washington Catholic. The Knights climbed the ranks as a result of losing to the Falcons 35-10.
Bishop McNamara's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ramar Williams threw for 277 and 1 touchdown and Jordan Crockett had 121 yards receiving. On the ground Alfred Bannister chipped in 113 yards. Marcolm Harley helped Bishop McNamara's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 60 yards.
Julian Nelson was a key player and the best on defense this week as Archbishop Carroll fell to St. John's. The 6-foot-2 junior forced 1 fumble, recorded 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Crockett was the best wideout in the league this week as the Mustangs lost to Gonzaga. Crockett tallied 9 receptions for 121 yards. Harley helped Bishop McNamara's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 60 yards.
Bishop McNamara's Williams and Crockett led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Williams has thrown for 2,307 yards this season, while Crockett has 52 catches for 1,156 yards. Christan Melgar from the Lions leads the league in rushing with 810 yards.
The most important game in Washington Catholic this week will be the match up between Archbishop Carroll and DeMatha. Rick Houchens' team enters the contest ranked 12th in the state, while the Stags ranks first.
The Cadets took down the Lions 37-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
