The Stephens County Indians will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Elbert County Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Stephens County was beaten by Habersham Central 88-47. Stephens County has struggled against Habersham Central recently, as their game on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Elbert County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Oglethorpe County by a score of 50-47. While losing is never fun, Elbert County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Oglethorpe County is ranked 134th).
Despite the loss, Elbert County had strong showings from Grady Jones, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds, and Bob Thomas, who scored 9 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.
Their wins bumped Stephens County to 2-1 and Habersham Central to 4-2.
Stephens County was able to grind out a solid victory over Elbert County in their previous matchup back in January, winning 55-46. Will Stephens County repeat their success, or does Elbert County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
