Northside took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Thomas County Central, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Thomas County Central beat Brooks County 40-29. Given Thomas County Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Brooks County is ranked 308th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Thomas County Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Travesha Giddens led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tia Floyd, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 70-34 loss at the hands of Veterans. Northside has not had much luck with Veterans recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Thomas County Central's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-6. As for Northside, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-16.
Thomas County Central strolled past Northside when the teams last played back in January by a score of 53-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thomas County Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
