Eaton is 10-0 against the Vikings since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The pair will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Eaton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
On Friday, Eaton strolled past the Huskies with points to spare, taking the game 69-53.
Eaton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tayla Wiedeman led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wiedeman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kara Sidwell, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Valley had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 47-29 victory over Wellington on Wednesday.
Valley can attribute much of their success to Peyton Savolt, who scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds, and Nevaeh Jimenez, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Jimenez is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Christina Maestas, who scored seven points.
Eaton pushed their record up to 11-7 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Valley, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Eaton have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Eaton against the Vikings when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 61-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eaton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
