Malvern extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 7 this week by beating Central Arkansas Christian, 21-18. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Leopards.
Bauxite led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on Arkansas Baptist.
The Eagles' dynamic duo of Riley Perkins and Dakota Newkirk proved tough for the Miners to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Perkins threw for 375 yards and six touchdowns and Newkirk had 188 yards receiving. Robert Paul Upshaw helped Arkansas Baptist's passing attack out by catching eight balls for 99 yards.
Ethan Erwin made the biggest impact on defense this week as Ashdown lost to Arkadelphia. The 6-foot-1 junior racked up one sack.
LaMichael Pettway was the most productive running back in the league this week. In four carries, he ran for 100 yards as Nashville lost to Bauxite. Teammate Kyler Lawrence added to the ground attack by rushing for 53 yards.
Brad Helm's team's Perkins and Newkirk have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region 7 in both passing and receiving yards. Perkins has thrown for 2504 yards this season, while Newkirk has 61 catches for 1161 yards. Jakaree Gaines from the Scrappers leads the league in rushing with 750 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Nashville takes on Malvern. The Scrappers' offense has racked up 358 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while John Fogleman's team has allowed only 112 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Nashville takes on the Leopards. The Scrappers are currently in third, while Malvern is in first.
Jon Watson's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,381 from 9,512. The improvement came about via a 50-49 victory over the Eagles last week.
