This season hasn't been kind to the Albemarle School Colts, who are still winless after their 22nd match. They were dealt a 80-19 loss at the hands of Lawrence Academy on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Albemarle School in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Albemarle School had strong showings from Luke Soule, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals, and Rylan James, who scored no points along with seven rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Soule pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Albemarle School struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lawrence Academy racked up 21 assists.
Lawrence Academy was led to victory by Patrick Lundy and Carter Hoggard. Lundy scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and five assists, while Hoggard scored 15 points along with five steals. It was the first time this season that Hoggard scored 15 or more points. Ben Woodard was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Albemarle School dropped their record down to 0-22 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lawrence Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-6.
Albemarle School will square off against the Eagles at 6:35 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Northeast Academy is ranked 675th, while the Colts are ranked 689th). As for Lawrence Academy, they will take on the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pungo Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
