The Varina Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Highland Springs Springers at 5:30 p.m. Varina is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Varina was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-47 to Atlee.
Meanwhile, Highland Springs can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Glen Allen with a sharp 66-45 win. The win was nothing new for Highland Springs as they're now sitting on three straight.
Highland Springs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ah'kiyah Pye, who scored 17 points. Pye hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. Kaelyn Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Varina has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Highland Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Varina was taken down by Highland Springs 94-18 in their previous matchup back in January. Can Varina avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
