Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Clinton

Clinton had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Tupelo Golden Wave as they made off with a 13-3 win. The Arrows might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Annalise Whitworth made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 contests.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on EstrElla Constancio, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last nine games. Another player making a difference was Keelyn Constancio, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-5.

Clinton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matchups.

Clinton pushed their record up to 14-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Tupelo, they moved to 8-9 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Clinton will head out on the road to square off against Puckett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Arrows surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tupelo, they will square off against Mooreville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
