The Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Normal Community Ironmen at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mahomet-Seymour comes in on three and Normal Community on four.
Mahomet-Seymour is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Taylorville with a sharp 18-2 win on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.
Ainsley Whitaker made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Mahomet-Seymour got a massive performance out of Lilly Jones, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Jones a new career-high. Presley Cox also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Mahomet-Seymour kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
LeRoy typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Normal Community proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 6-1.
Ava Prevo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Hayley Michels was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Zoey Wilde, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Mahomet-Seymour pushed their record up to 8-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Normal Community, their record now sits at 8-9.
Mahomet-Seymour skirted past Normal Community 6-5 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Ironmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
