Even though the Roswell Coyotes scored an imposing 62 points on Saturday, the Sandia Matadors still came out on top. Sandia took their match against Roswell 70-62.
Leading Sandia to victory were Jahmil Crayton Johnson and Zaire Ndyabagye. Crayton Johnson went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 0 assists, while Ndyabagye scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Ndyabagye's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Howell, who scored three points along with three blocks.
The victory got Sandia back to even at 4-4. As for Roswell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
Sandia will be home for the holidays to greet Los Lunas at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Los Lunas is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. Roswell will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Alamogordo at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. Alamogordo has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
