Basketball Recap: Madelyn Kraus' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Western Plains over Weskan

Western Plains lost against Weskan back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Western Plains Bobcats fell to the Weskan Coyotes 45-41. While the Bobcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Coyotes 15-8 in the first quarter.

Western Plains lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Madelyn Kraus, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Kraus' afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalihan Flax, who posted ten points and three steals.

Western Plains' defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Weskan, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Western Plains Bobcats take on the Pawnee Heights Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Weskan, they will welcome Wallace County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wallace County will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Weskan surely won't give up without a fight.
