Micah Simmons was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 18 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 blocks per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Fortunato, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Deposit-Hancock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Onteora). They came out on top against Margaretville Central by a score of 66-53 on Thursday. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 51.5 points per game.
Onteora's win came from a few key players Deposit-Hancock will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sam Storch, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Meer Maize, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.
Onteora's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Deposit-Hancock, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Deposit-Hancock has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 41 boards per game. However, it's not like Onteora struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25 rebounds.
