In this week's postseason power rankings action, one team rose to the occasion while another fell hard. Among the action were the efforts of Hamilton's junior Carson Rostad, an offensive menace who scored six total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Flathead got a 52 - 35 win over Billings Senior last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Blake Counts. Counts earned four touchdowns and 303 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Counts one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
Movin on Up
Laurel brought the heat last game after its low-scoring effort (six points) in the match before. It put the hurt on Corvallis with a conclusive 49 - 6 victory. That 43-point margin marks the most Laurel has won by all season. The team's efforts were enough to boost its power ranking by six, which was the most sizeable gain made by any team in the rankings.
Game of Inches
The title of the most exciting match of the week goes to the clash between Columbia Falls and Fergus. The game was as close as could be, but Columbia Falls ended up on top with a 23 - 22 over Fergus. Nevertheless, Columbia Falls did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped three spots in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Bigfork (4th in the power rankings) and Fairfield/Augusta (3rd). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Both the Bigfork and Fairfield/Augusta defenses have allowed few points this year (averaging 12 ppg and 3.27 ppg, respectively), so the teams might find scoring more difficult than usual this week.
