The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Founders Classical Academy in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost six in a row.
Needles' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darrell Russell, who scored 18 points along with six steals and two blocks. Russell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Xavier Russell, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds.
Founders Classical Academy's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.8 points per game. As for Needles, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 24-0.
Founders Classical Academy will be playing at home against the Lions at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Needles, they will head out on the road to face off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Laughlin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 98th in Nevada, while the Mustangs are ranked 18th in California).
