In what's become a running theme this season, the Cambridge Academy Cougars gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They put the hurt on Our Lady of the Rosary with a sharp 35-11 win. Given Cambridge Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Lions are ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jillian Mapes, who scored 19 points along with seven steals and two blocks. She hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Izzy Southerland, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Cambridge Academy and bumps their season record up to 13-6. As for Our Lady of the Rosary, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.
Cambridge Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Laurens Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last 20 games. Our Lady of the Rosary does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
