Ernesto Machado was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Highland Park: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9-1 otherwise. Andres Ochoa-Perez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Highland Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harmon only posted a batting average of .280.
Meanwhile, Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Atchison, falling 11-4.
Nathan Garcia was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Benito Morell, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Highland Park's record is now 8-10-1. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 9-16.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Highland Park has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .572. However, it's not like Washington struggles in that department as they've averaged .508. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Highland Park might still be hurting after the 20-3 defeat they got from Washington in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Scots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
