Basketball Game Preview: River City Believers Academy Soldiers vs. Bracken Christian Warriors

The River City Believers Academy Soldiers and the Bracken Christian Warriors will round out the year against one another at at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. River City Believers Academy is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Last Friday, River City Believers Academy lost to First Baptist Academy on the road by a 46-30 margin.

River City Believers Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lukas Cox, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards, and Brennen McGuire, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds McGuire has posted since back in November of 2023.

Even though they lost, River City Believers Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Bracken Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Knippa on Friday, taking the game 53-43. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 444th, while the Crushers are ranked 1139th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bracken Christian is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for River City Believers Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

River City Believers Academy was dealt a bruising 70-40 defeat at the hands of Bracken Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2020. Can River City Believers Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
