Basketball Game Preview: Rock Church Lions vs. Gateway Christian

Rock Church is 3-0 against Gateway Christian since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Rock Church Lions are taking a road trip to face off against Gateway Christian at 6:00 p.m. Rock Church knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Gateway Christian likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Rock Church got the win against TEACH Homeschool by a conclusive 68-46. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 22 points or more this season.

Rock Church's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Miles Dawkins led the charge by putting up 19 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Dawkins' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Holloman, who posted 17 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Gateway Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Epiphany 67-36.

Rock Church will have to contain Jacob Holestin as he made an impact in Gateway Christian's last game. He had 14 points. Another player making a difference was Chris Green, who put up eight points.

Gateway Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Rock Church, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Rock Church hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 62.3 points per game. It's a different story for Gateway Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 37.3 points. The only thing between Rock Church and another offensive beatdown is Gateway Christian. Will they be able to keep them contained?

Rock Church strolled past Gateway Christian when the teams last played back in January by a score of 60-43. Does Rock Church have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gateway Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
