Jonesboro has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Gordon Longhorns at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jonesboro had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat May 86-39 at home. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
DeMarcus Acoff continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 102 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, while also picking up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Acoff's longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards. Ej Thorman did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 43 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Gordon put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Abbott at home to the tune of 64-16. Gordon's victory was all the more impressive since Abbott was averaging only 18 points allowed on the season.
Jonesboro's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Gordon, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.
