Canyon is 7-0 against the Matadors since December of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Canyon Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Seguin Matadors at 6:30 p.m.
Last Tuesday, Canyon came up short against the Rangers and fell 47-39. Canyon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Seguin had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Veterans Memorial on Tuesday and snuck past 46-43. The win was just what Seguin needed coming off of a 88-28 loss in their prior match.
Canyon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season. As for Seguin, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-24.
Everything went Canyon's way against the Matadors in their previous meeting back in January as the Cougars made off with a 53-31 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Seguin's Desiree Zuniga, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Canyon still be able to contain Zuniga? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
