Basketball Recap: Seventy-First Skates Past Southern Nash with Ease

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Seventy-First walked away with it. They blew past the Southern Nash Firebirds 72-42 on Tuesday. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Seventy-First got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jazmine Bynum out in front who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Bynum has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Paris Barber, who scored ten points in addition to eight boards and eight steals.

Seventy-First's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Southern Nash, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Seventy-First will head out on the road to face off against Croatan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Croatan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season. Southern Nash does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
