Pequea Valley has gone a perfect 10-0 against Columbia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Braves will square off against the Crimson Tide at 4:15 p.m. Columbia took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Pequea Valley, who comes in off a win.
Pequea Valley's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Annville-Cleona with a sharp 7-0 victory.
Logan Zynn was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Dominick Burrell was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Adam Smucker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Columbia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Tulpehocken, falling 13-1.
Columbia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Buzzendore, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Pequea Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Columbia, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Pequea Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Columbia in their previous matchup on April 9th, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
